As of June 11th, Innovation Sprint has joined the New Technologies Working Group (NTWG) of the European CRO Federation (EUCROF), which has the mission to evaluate new technologies on how these can impact and provide benefits to the clinical trial environment. At this stage there are 3 active teams in NTWG:

a) Archiving and Decommissioning,

b) GDPR Code of Conduct; and

c) eConsent. Innovation Sprint aims to contribute on several technological aspects around virtual trials, such as IoT devices, in-silico trials & synthetic arm, AI/ML data processing, as well as Software as Medical Device aspects.

EUCROF (European CRO Federation) was founded in October 2005 and its mission is to promote Clinical Research by improving the knowledge, competence, expertise, and skills of Contract Research Organisations (CROs) in Europe. In addition, EUCROF consists of members and associated members from 16 EU countries, stands for 310 members CROs and over 20,000 employees, represents and supports their interest towards the healthcare-related industry within the field of Clinical Research as well as the medical and affiliated research community, and recognized by Regulatory Authorities as the representative for European based CROs, regularly approached to contribute to the never-ending debate on the improvement of rules and regulations.

EUCROF’s actions are carried out by Working Groups formed at the initiative of its members to develop domain-specific programs and address corresponding issues. In fact, the WGs meet regularly through TCs and/or face to face meetings. In accordance with the focus of each WG, they are intended to become counterpart/stakeholders for Regulatory Authorities, Industry, Academia, and Patients’ Associations, write papers in Scientific Journals, actively participate in Congresses/Conferences, thus representing the position and the interests of EUCROF.

The WGs are the following:

  1. CLINICAL TRIALS CENTRES
  2. CLINICAL TRIALS LEGISLATION
  3. COMMUNICATION
  4. EARLY PHASE RESEARCH
  5. EVENTS AND TRAINING
  6. INNOVATIVE MEDICINE
  7. REAL-WORLD DATA & DIGITAL HEALTH
  8. MEDICAL DEVICES
  9. NEW TECHNOLOGIES
  10. PAEDIATRIC
  11. PATIENTS’ ASSOCIATION
  12. PHARMACOVIGILANCE

Our participation in NTWG is of major importance for Innovation Sprint, as we want to be part of the ‘digital shaping’ of clinical trials; besides new technologies are in our DNA.
