Virtual sensing environment for care at home

Aristodemos Pnevmatikakis

Abstract

This paper presents a virtual home sensing environment, where different sensors are placed throughout the home and on the body of some care recipient. The life of the care recipient is then simulated and his/her activities trigger a wealth of measurements from the virtual sensors and the resulting metadata from processing those. The metadata are stored in a database, to be used for building activity recognition and condition reasoning systems in the context of home care.
